Background:I do not like string shorts for workout, made with athletic materials. They not only not last, but also are pain in the rear to remove and put on while working out and somehow ridiculously lack pocket quality and quantity. Furthermore, I am not a fan of their fitting.Got these shorts in two steps, a two of them first in 2020, then four of them in 2021 upon wearing them for a year. On an average I paid about $25 a piece.Pros:1. Lightweight and easy to pack. These are light, yet have decently thick fabric, which packs smaller.2. Pockets. There are 6 pockets in total: deep front pocket, a side cargo pockets and a back pocket on either side. The side pockets have zippers to prevent stuff from falling down.3. Good Quality of Materials. They do not seem to have the cheap fabric feel. The fabric is decently stretchy without being like a legging consistency. The first two came with mesh fabric front pockets, which have shown a little wear and tear, but the other four came with a smooth lined fabric, which seems more durable.4. Fitting. Very good fitting. These are not baggy or skinny, just right. Putting the abdomen guard and slider pants is not an issue to make them feel tight. Also, you can really kick or stretch in them without being worried about not having range of motion because of tightness nor displaying too much of precious gems because of looseness.5. Slightly waterproof. You can probably walk in about 10 minutes of light to medium rain before they start soaking with moisture. Helpful, when your car is parked away from your gym or studio to go to.6. Looks. Being golf shorts, they look professional and not too baggy or shabby. The color is true.7. Stain Resistant. They do not get stained or have dust marking easily. You can easily wipe them off with a moist towel and you are good to go.Cons:1. Fabric. Specifically on the first two shorts, the front pocket mesh fabric. While I do not carry any significantly sharp objects, the mesh fabric in the left pocket of one, and right pocket of the other has shown a tear, where I can put my ring finger in. To me, it is not a concern, as the holes are located more on the top side of the pocket than bottom.2. Zipper Fly - not really a con. While the zipper fly on any of them has not broken, I feel it is cheaply made.3. While they do not hold sweat, they certainly feel wet from extended sweating, but they do not stink. There have been times that I have put them to air dry and wore them again, if I am traveling.Bottom-line:For a price of around $25 they are good, can't comment on $40 I see them go for sometime. I refuse to pay more for any shorts, than a pair of jeans. These have lasted me for about 3 years in stressful conditions for what I use them for. So I would rate them 4.7 out of 5. A good quality shorts from IZOD.
